On December 28, 2023, the work of the first archaeological mission was completed within the framework of the agreement signed between the National Heritage Institute and the Chinese National Center for Archeology regarding the archaeological site of Ben Arous.
The first work concerned the prospecting of the site and its surroundings and the beginning of the study of ceramics. Subsequently, a geophysical prospecting using a ground penetrating radar was carried out as well as the geomorphological study of the site and its natural environment.
The final stage consisted of the archaeological excavation of part of the site. The works carried out confirmed the importance of the site, its richness throughout its occupation during Antiquity.
