Work on the ‘renovation of the Roman and Early Christian Museum of Carthage’ is nearing completion, with the museum scheduled to open on 2 December 2025. This museum will display the results of excavations of churches, a house and a circus in Carthage, as well as a special exhibition devoted to pottery recovered from Punic ports dating back to late antiquity.
The contribution of American researcher John Humphrey was of great importance, as he has conducted numerous excavations over several years in collaboration with a number of Tunisian archaeologists. A significant portion of the items on display at the museum were discovered during excavations conducted by this researcher. He also participated in the preparation of the scientific programme and the reorganisation of the exhibition, and made a significant financial donation that contributed to the enrichment and decoration of this museum.
