Tunisian-Italian Days dedicated to the preservation and promotion of archaeological heritage

The Director-General of the National Heritage Institute, Tarek Baccouche, Ambassador Alessandro Brunas and the Director of the Department for the Promotion of Cultural Heritage at the Italian Ministry of Culture, Alfonsina Russo, opened the closing ceremony of the Tunisian-Italian Days dedicated to the preservation and promotion of archaeological heritage, on 28 April, organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Cultural Centre, the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, the restoration agency ‘Asserestauro’, the organisation ‘OICE’ and the organisation ‘Conect’. This event brought together, for the first time, the academic and cultural spheres, with a strong economic dimension.
During this study day, numerous joint projects and missions were presented, making Italy Tunisia’s leading partner in the field of archaeology. A business forum and B2B meetings also brought together Italian and Tunisian institutions active in the field of restoration.
This event represented an integrated approach combining culture, research and the economy, within the framework of the Mattei Plan, with the aim of better promoting Tunisia’s exceptional heritage at the international level.
