Under the auspices of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Tarek Baccouche, Director General of the National Heritage Institute, welcomed Mr. Bill Bazzi, U.S. Ambassador to Tunisia, to the Institute’s headquarters on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the “Tapestry Experience” project dedicated to the Roman amphitheater of El Jem, in the Mahdia Governorate.
This interactive digital experience is the result of intensive fieldwork and training workshops organized as part of “The Cultural Heritage Engineering Initiative” program from November 8 to 12, 2024. It combines immersive virtual reality with stories from the local community… This project is a pioneering initiative in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage, thanks to an interactive digital experience that combines education, civil society participation, and the use of modern technologies.
