As part of an international cooperation agreement between the National Heritage Institute and the Faculty of Arts at Sorbonne University, the research project at the archaeological site of Haïdra (ancient Ammaedara) in the Governorate of Kasserine continued with a fourth field mission from 17 September to 6 October 2026. The work is being carried out under the supervision of researchers Mohamed Ben Nejma and Caroline Michel d’Annoville, with the participation of Tunisian and French curators and students.
During this campaign, excavations and test pits were carried out in two areas of the city. The first, situated on the western edge of the city, comprises an imposing building that ends at the far end with an apse. The second, in the centre of the city, comprises a large porticoed courtyard surrounded by several monuments, one of which is a trough-shaped monument.
