As part of an international cooperation agreement between the National Heritage Institute and the Catalan Institute of Classical Archaeology, an archaeological mission took place from 16 September to 6 October 2026 at the Sidi Saïd site (Bargou, Siliana), led by researchers Yamen Sghaïer (INP), Chokri Touihri (INP), Maria Carme Belarte (ICAC) and David Montanero (ICAC), with the participation of Tunisian and Spanish researchers, curators and students.
The excavation and survey work enabled the continued documentation of settlements and fortifications dating back to the Numidian period (between the 5th and 3rd centuries BC).
