As part of the cooperation agreement signed on June 05, 2023 between the Institut National du Patrimoine and The China National Center for Archaeology concerning archaeological work on the Ben Arous archaeological site discovered in 2019 during a project to build a cultural and sports complex in Ben Arous, a project financed by a grant from the People’s Republic of China, a delegation of Chinese experts in the field of cultural heritage visited Tunisia between September 20 and 22, 2024. The delegation comprised 4 experts led by Mr. Yuzhu Liu, President of the China Foundation for Cultural Heritage Conservation.
The visit aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of cultural heritage protection and enhancement, and to explore possibilities and opportunities for cooperation in joint projects between the two countries.
During the visit, a working session was held with the Director General of the Institut National du Patrimoine, Tarek Baccouche, on Friday September 20. At the same time, the team of experts made a series of visits to archaeological sites and museums, including the Ben Arous archaeological site, the Odhna archaeological site, the Bardo National Museum, the Sousse Archaeological Museum, the Rabat Sousse monument and the Carthage site.
