From 06th to 20th April 2025, a new program of fieldwork and excavations in the area of Beni Guendil (Remada-Tataouine) was undertaken by the National institute of Heritage (Prehistoric section-INP-Tunis). The excavations at Beni Guendil site unearthed archaeological deposits of sequential human occupations (Upper Pleistocene/early Holocene).
Lithic material and faunal remains belong to hunters and Gatherers human populations. The stratigraphic excavations show a number of ornaments on worked seashells. All these materials could highlight the relationship between human groups and territories, landscapes and different climate shifts.
